    patient getting blood drawn

Washburn Tech's phlebotomy certificate program was created in response to high area demand for trained phlebotomists. This 14-credit-hour program is designed to prepare you to sit for the credentialing exam offered by the American Medical Technologist organization. This half-day program replaces the current apprenticeship model of phlebotomy training utilized by area hospitals and provides a trained workforce for the medical community. Current on-the-job training requires a significant amount of time and resources from the hiring agency which often results in higher than average turnover. As a result, this new model allows training to take place prior to employment. It also serves as the foundation for more advanced healthcare programs at Washburn Tech such as practical nursing and surgical technology. This semester-long program is designed for high school students who are 18 years of age by a specified date in the semester. Please ask an admissions counselor for details.

Please note: Many of our clinical partners are requiring students to have the vaccine in order to complete clinical hours.  Due to accrediting body and program clinical requirements, Washburn Tech cannot guarantee that requirements for program completion can be met when a student is not vaccinated.
