Cost of Attendance

  • Dollars & Sense

The Financial Aid Office uses a standard Cost of Attendance for all students based on an estimated average cost of tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, personal expenses and loan fees. The Cost of Attendance is not necessarily what a student will pay to go to school, but an estimate of the direct and indirect costs a student may experience for one academic year. The Cost of Attendance is used in determining a student's financial need for need-based grants, loans and work-study. Additionally, it sets the limit on the maximum amount of financial aid a student may receive.

At Washburn Tech, the Cost of Attendance is established for students based upon their dependency status (as determined by FAFSA) and their enrollment level (i.e. full-time, less than full-time and less than half-time).

Below are the Cost of Attendance budgets for the 2021-2022 academic year.

    Dependent Undergraduate

    Full-Time Less Than Full-Time Less Than Half-Time
    Tuition & Fees $8,640 $4,320 $1,800
    Room & Board $9,838 $9,838 $0
    Loan Fees $61 $61 $0
    Books & Supplies $1,200 $600 $250
    Personal $1,980 $1,980 $0
    Transportation $1,334 $1,334 $1,334
    TOTAL $23,053 $18,133 $3,384
The reflected Cost of Attendance budgets are based on one academic year (fall and spring semesters). Students only enrolling in one semester of fall or spring will receive one half of the reflected Cost of Attendance. Tuition and Fees for a full-time undergraduate student are based on 48 credit hours for the academic year, for a less than full-time undergraduate student based on 24 credit hours for the academic year, and for a less than half-time undergraduate student based on 10 credit hours for the academic year.
