    Washburn University is conducting a national search for the next dean of Washburn Tech. Washburn Institute of Technology is recognized nationally for its pattern of innovation, and regionally for its top-ranking job placement of graduates. The dean oversees the operations and enhancement of two campuses and works in concert with the Provost and other deans in moving the University’s academic mission forward. The next Dean of Washburn Tech is expected to be a collaborative presence on all campuses and with Tech’s many business and industry partners in the community.

    Role of the Dean

    The Dean’s responsibilities include providing collaborative and skilled leadership for both technical education campuses and as a member of the University's academic leadership team. Essential functions include inspiring and leading the development of innovative educational training opportunities, nurturing the development of a diverse faculty, leading strategic planning, fiscal management and more. 

    The individual in this position works closely with the Provost, other deans, many business and industry partners, and area school district leadership. 

    Timeline

    Applications reviewed and Zoom interviews

    Members of the search committee will begin reviewing applications and conducting Zoom interviews of candidates in October. 

    Campus Interviews

    Finalists will be invited to visit campus.

    Dean Announced

    After the on-campus interviews a dean will be chosen.

    Job Description and Application Information

    The search committee invites confidential letters of interest and nominations to be emailed to the provost’s office. Materials should include a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and at least five professional references. 
    Interested parties are encouraged to submit materials by September 29, 2023.
