September 28, 2016

Topeka, Kan. – Seeing is believing and that is the premise behind the Washburn University Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) Fall Open House from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, at 5724 SW Huntoon St. The come-and-go event is an opportunity for prospective students, friends and family to learn about training opportunities that can lead to career opportunities.

“Washburn Tech’s 38 career programs offer hands-on, interactive learning. So during our Open House, prospective students have an opportunity to see what happens in our classrooms and labs,” said Nicole Bollig, associate director of admissions, Washburn Tech. “Technical education is exploding across the nation, so it is an exciting time to gain the knowledge and skills that are desperately needed by business and industry.”

To emphasize the workforce need, especially in manufacturing, the Fall Open House includes special programming in support of Manufacturing Day from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Washburn Tech Conference Center. This nationwide event is designed to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Washburn Tech’s event will feature a representative from Mars Chocolate North America.

Both the Open House and Manufacturing Day celebrations are free and open to the public. Visitors may arrive at any time during Open House hours and are not required to register for the event, although large groups are encouraged to RSVP to the Washburn Tech Admissions Office at 785.670.2200 or nicole.bollig@washburn.edu.
