Washburn Tech Welcomes District Attorney Chad Taylor

September 10, 2015

Topeka, Kan. – Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor held court, so to speak, on the Washburn Tech campus by serving as guest speaker at a Constitution Day event on September 10.

Taylor told the audience of students, instructors and staff that interacting with young people is his favorite part of the job.  And he noted his familiarity with Washburn Tech, saying his office has hired between 15 and 20 graduates from our office programs.

Taylor’s message focused on a well-known phrase in the U.S. Constitution that emphasizes the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He said, “that means the ability for an individual to go about their normal day without the ability for anyone to harass that individual.”

Taylor also noted the beauty and vision of our country’s founding fathers to create boundary lines for our society that have held for more than 200 years. He encouraged students to register to vote and participate in our democracy.

Constitution Day, which is officially September 17, commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution. Instructor Lynn Dawson of Washburn Tech’s Legal Office program, heads-up the annual campus event.
