Topeka - The big rigs intrigued the little kids at the Washburn Tech display at the third annual Touch-a-Truck event Sept. 5 at the intersection of 8th and Quincy in downtown Topeka.

“You are never too young, or too old, to enjoy an event such as Touch-a-Truck,” said Tim Clothier, coordinator, Washburn Tech Business and Industry Center. “This type of event also reminds the community of the broad nature of technical skill sets and illustrates the impactful relationship between business partners and technical education.”

Washburn Tech displayed a semi-tractor and a backhoe. Instructors on hand to answer questions were Jay Thowe, Mike Evenson and Robert Arney.

Youngsters had the chance to touch, climb on and learn about the array of equipment that ranged from a street sweeper, trash truck and road grader, to a fire truck, ambulance, police car and dump truck.
