Prospective Washburn Tech students must take the ACT WorkKeys Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information tests to be considered for admission. ACT WorkKeys policies are strictly enforced. Testing sessions are offered regularly throughout the year at the Washburn Tech campus. Reservations for testing sessions are required.
Scheduling a test/retest: Please call Student Services at 785-228-6325 to schedule your test/retest session.
Photo identification must be presented at test check-in. In accordance with ACT regulations, if you do not have a photo ID, then you will not be allowed to test.
No cell phones are allowed. Other electronics such as wrist watches with alarms, pagers, etc. are also prohibited. If an electronic device goes off during the assessment, that individual’s test is voided and the testing fee will not be refunded.
No food or drink is allowed in the testing center.

ACT WorkKeys testing is done online. Washburn Tech provides calculators, scratch paper, and pencils.
Please allow 2.5 hours if taking both tests. Examinees complete a short demographic section. 55 minutes are allowed for each test. A timer is visible on each examinee’s computer screen. Examinees may take a short break between tests, if desired.
Testing center doors open at the scheduled test time and lock 15 minutes after report time. No one is admitted after doors lock.

Re-tests cost $6.00 each
ACT WorkKeys preparation booklets are available for Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information at the STEP office. Test preparation booklets cost $5.00 each.
ACT WorkKeys has online practice questions and practice tests, however, there may be a fee.
Washburn Tech now offers a WorkKeys Test Prep series for Applied Mathematics to help applicants improve their scoring capacity on WorkKeys entrance exams.

Each program has minimum WorkKeys admission standards. You may retest if you need to improve your score. However, ACT recommends waiting 30 days before retesting if no intervention, training, or tutoring has occurred.
