Introduction to Basic Automotive Refinishing


Course Description:

This course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to the skills and knowledge required to perform basic automotive refinishing. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: properly mix automotive primers and paints; apply primers and paints to fully prepared body panels; identify, properly maintain, and operate the various types of available spray guns; demonstrate appropriate understanding of and ability to perform basic automotive priming and painting activities, processes, procedures, and techniques. Due to time and space requirements, this course will be limited to small projects and will not cover the removal/installation/repair of any body parts or panels. Required Equipment: Safety Glasses, Paint respirator, Chemical resistant gloves, Paint suit, Paint and/or Primer gun (optional), and Leather footwear (No nylon or plastic footwear or clothing). No loose fit clothing. DISCLAIMER: Note: Individuals are responsible for any personal objects brought into the classroom or lab. School, instructor, and fellow students bear no responsibility for your personal belongings. This course is not intended to teach students to remove or repair any parts or panels. Those skills can be learned in the Body Works Basic course.

Refund Policy:   Continuing Education at Washburn Tech is supported by tuition funds.  Sessions are scheduled, supplies are ordered, and instructors paid based on enrollment/tuition data.  Therefore there will be no refunds on tuition within 10 working days prior to the start of a course.
